some years ago my 2 partners & i had our own boutique in my country, called Ame No Machi. during that time, i designed this simple vintage-looking dress, inspired by dresses of the ’30s, and our tailor made it a bit wrong (but still good!). now, years later, here i am making a replica of my own designed dress, and this time i sticked to my original design (= higher neck-line)
it was only because when i went hunting for cheap fabrics, i found this one that reminded me so much of the original dress, and it was for such a cheap price that i just HAD to buy it
instead of fake pearls like in the original dress, i used some plastic beads as the strap.
this is the 6th piece of clothing that i’ve sewn in my whole life, and it’s my 1st time ever that i did a dress all on my own, without any pattern/following any tutorial. even with lots of trials & errors, i finished it in around 3 hours. it may not be perfect, but still i love it to death .
the last 2 pics show the original dress, made by our tailor back then, worn by our model Zulfa, in our boutique’s launching fashion show.
more pics of the replica dress here.
Ame No Machi will always live in my heart, no matter what!
